In an exciting collaboration, Red Sea Global (RSG) and North Sails have formed a strategic partnership to merge regenerative tourism and sustainable sailing. RSG, the visionary developer behind The Red Sea and Amaala, will team up with North Sails, the world's leading sailmaker and apparel company, to bring their shared vision to life.
The partnership begins with North Sails Apparel providing Performance Apparel for WAMA, RSG's water sports brand. The collaboration will expand to retail, merchandise, and broader engagement with the North Sails Group. This includes technology and innovation, delivering top-notch kite, foil, sails, apparel, footwear, and accessories. The collaboration also extends to events, community engagement, and a shared commitment to marine environment protection.
The signing ceremony between RSG and North Sails Apparel took place at The Ocean Race's Grand Finale in Genoa, where RSG proudly serves as the Regenerative Project Partner.
The WAMA capsule collection by North Sails Apparel offers a full range of uniforms and accessories such as crew bags, backpacks, and laptop cases. With the Red Sea coastline's perfect weather conditions and stunning landscapes, this partnership enables North Sails to bring their passion for the ocean to more people in Saudi Arabia and beyond.
Marisa Selfa, CEO of North Sails Apparel, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, "Red Sea Global's ambition to pioneer regenerative tourism closely mirrors our mission to protect our oceans and champion positive causes with bold campaigning. We will work closely with the organization to inspire people around the world to help save our treasured seas."
RSG and North Sails are determined to bring their shared sailing vision to life through joint participation in major events and regattas. Additionally, they will focus on community initiatives that leverage North Sails' fanbase and network in sailing, water sports, and apparel.
North Sails will also support RSG's Young Marine Biologist scheme, an innovative program designed to educate young international and Saudi guests and children on various ways to protect the environment. Participants will learn about sustainable innovation, regenerative tourism, and ocean rights through four key modules: Reef Recovery, Small But Mighty, Magic Mangroves, and Red Sea Superstars.
Through WAMA's Coral Cadets program, North Sails and Coral Gardeners, their partner organization, will collaborate to create restoration activities as part of the 'Coral Cadet Week' under WAMA's Respect for the Sea initiative. Young marine biologists will have the opportunity to engage in submarine excursions, research-based activities, bird monitoring with local experts, and explore the wonders of local fauna and turtle hatchlings.
Maryam Ficociello, Chief Governance Officer of Red Sea Global, highlighted the alignment of values between RSG and North Sails, stating, "As a B Corp and sustainable sail-wear and lifestyle brand, North Sails Apparel will provide vital support for our environmental efforts and help us take another important step towards our goal of making a difference for the better."
Red Sea Global's WAMA applies strict criteria in its procurement of apparel, ensuring collaboration with companies that share their values, demonstrate sustainability and regenerative credentials, prioritize community engagement and youth, and maintain a track record of innovation and high manufacturing standards.
This groundbreaking partnership between RSG and North Sails marks an exciting milestone in the pursuit of regenerative tourism and sustainable sailing. By combining their expertise and commitment to environmental stewardship, they aim to make a lasting positive impact on the Red Sea region and beyond, ensuring a future where nature and leisure coexist harmoniously.
