The ELLE Sustainability Awards 2023: Celebrating the Fashion Industry's Eco-Game Changers
The Gemfields presents ELLE Sustainability Awards 2023 in association with Signature Packaged Drinking Water celebrated the groundbreaking sustainable change-makers in the fashion industry. From fashion designers to beauty experts, climate activists and celebrities, the event recognised those taking responsible strides in protecting the environment and working towards a sustainable future.

The Gemfields presents ELLE Sustainability Awards 2023 in association with Signature Packaged Drinking Water was a resounding success, with the glitterati of the fashion, beauty, and lifestyle industries all in attendance. The event, which took place at St. Regis, was a glamorous ode to all things sustainable, and it left attendees feeling inspired and motivated to make changes to help save the planet.
One of the highlights of the event was the ELLE wall by Signature Experiences, which was adorned with almost 60 sustainable pledges. Attendees were buzzing with excitement as they read through the various pledges, which were crafted in sustainable paper and designed to be conscious and mindful.
Prior to the event, ELLE hosted a panel discussion on how to encourage sustainable choices in fashion, beauty, and lifestyle. The panel discussion was moderated by Vasudha Rai, and industry leaders such as Nachiket Barve, Shubhika Jain, Sumaira Abdulali, Nidhi Yasha, Shruti Sancheti, and Bandana Tewari all gave their input and set the tone for the rest of the evening.

The award ceremony was a star-studded affair, with Bhumi Pednekar, Dia Mirza, Raveena Tandon, Kalki Koechlin, Rakul Preet Singh, and Pragya Kapoor all taking the stage to receive awards for their contributions to sustainability. Fashion stalwarts Anita Dongre and Rajesh Pratap Singh also took home the ELLE Sustainability Leadership award, while Relove CEO Kirti Poonia won the ELLE Conscious Fashion Award. Sudheer Rajbhar of Chamar Studio fame was lauded with the ELLE Circular Economy Award, and Shruti Singh, the Country Head for Fashion Revolution India, was felicitated with the ELLE Eco-Innovation (Fashion) award, among many others.

The event was sponsored by Gemfields and Signature Packaged Drinking Water, with Schwarzkopfin and Vedica Spring serving as the beauty and hydration partners, respectively.

The winners of the awards represent a cross-section of industries, from fashion designers to beauty experts, climate activists, and celebrities. Each winner was recognised for their contributions to the field of sustainability and for taking responsible strides in protecting the environment and working towards a sustainable future.
Anita Dongre, a doyenne of India's fashion industry, won the ELLE Sustainability Leadership award for her long-standing championing of sustainability. Meanwhile, veteran designer Rajesh Pratap Singh won the same award for his minimalist artistic signature and for being at the forefront of conversations around sustainability in the fashion industry.
Mehul Shroff and Purvi Shah, founders of Mangalam Kalpataru, won the ELLE Sustainable Innovation award for their efforts to convert waste banana stems and crop into eco-friendly craft such as baskets, mats, and bags, among others. Sudheer Rajbhar, founder of Chamar, won the ELLE Circular Economy Award for his work with recycled rubber in making bags and other products.

Aishwarya Sharma won the ELLE Fashion Changemaker award for revolutionising how the world sees fashion and breaking through stereotypes to advocate for climate and women's rights. Kirti Poonia, co-founder of Relove, won the ELLE Conscious Fashion award for her work in bringing sustainable fashion to the fore.

Shruti Singh, the Country Head for Fashion Revolution India, was felicitated with the ELLE Eco-Innovation (Fashion) award for her dedication to building an educational platform for all forms of ethical and conscious fashion, while Kristin Kagetsu, Tarun Bothra, and Grace Kane, founders of Saathi, won the ELLE Eco-Community Initiative award for their mission to create eco-friendly, compostable sanitary that showcased how sustainability is no longer a buzzword, but a necessary step towards a better future. The winners of the ELLE Sustainability Awards 2023 are the individuals and organizations who are actively working towards a more sustainable fashion industry, creating innovative solutions to tackle waste, and empowering communities to make conscious choices. The awards recognized and celebrated sustainability leaders, innovators, changemakers, and heroes across fashion, beauty, and lifestyle industries.


The evening was a celebration of sustainable fashion and beauty, with some of the biggest names in Bollywood and the fashion industry in attendance. Bhumi Pednekar was awarded the ELLE Sustainability Champion of the Year, Dia Mirza was named ELLE Leaders of Change, Raveena Tandon was awarded ELLE Sustainability Hero of the Year, Kalki Koechlin was awarded ELLE Sustainable Mould Breaker, and Rakul Preet Singh received the ELLE Social Responsibility Award.

The awards also recognized several fashion industry leaders for their sustainable initiatives. Rajesh Pratap Singh and Anita Dongre were both awarded the ELLE Sustainability Leadership award for their work in promoting sustainable practices in the fashion industry. Kirti Poonia, the CEO of Relove, a sustainable fashion brand that merges technology with sustainability, was awarded the ELLE Conscious Fashion Award.

In addition to fashion, the awards also recognized individuals who are making a difference in other sectors. Ripu Daman Bevli, known as the Plogman of India, received the ELLE Eco-Conscious Activist award for his work in promoting fitness and cleanliness through plogging. Kavita Khosa, founder and creative director of Purearth, was awarded the ELLE Responsible Beauty Initiative for her efforts in creating clean, luxurious beauty products.

The awards showed that sustainability is no longer a buzzword, but a necessary step towards a better tomorrow. The winners of the awards are the ones leading the way towards a greener, more responsible future and setting an example for others to follow.
