Lighting fixtures have the power to not only illuminate a space but also to enhance the room's overall aesthetic. When a fixture is not only beautifully designed but also sustainable, it's a match made in heaven. That's why the Air Light, a collaboration between Italian brand Contardi Lighting and designer Adam Tihany, is a lighting design curated in heaven.
The Air Light is a newly designed suspension lamp that is 100% recyclable, functional, and incredibly decorative. It's a physical manifestation of the exploration of ecological and design values. The lamp features a dual lampshade design that creates an amusing play between light and shadow, using engraved laser cuts to produce a warm and inviting ambiance.
Contardi Lighting and Tihany made considerable efforts to reduce the Air Light's impact on the environment throughout the design and production process. The light is made from Green Cast, an acrylic material that can be 100% recycled and recycles industrial waste and end-of-life products. Green Cast retains its mechanical, thermal, and aesthetic qualities, regardless of how many cycles it has been utilized. The cream-colored finish is applied during production, eliminating the lacquering phase and reducing the lamp's environmental impact.
The Air Light has an almost sculptural and ethereal feel to it. As you look closer, you'll notice that the lamp seems to be floating both upwards and downwards, creating an intriguing visual illusion. The upper and lower LED lights emit a full glow, creating a warm, cozy, and peaceful aura in any room where it is placed.
